L.I.F.E. at North Adams Elementary

At North Adams Elementary we believe Learning Is For Everyone. We call it "L.I.F.E."! We believe NO ONE is too young or too old, too short or too tall, too smart or too dumb, to LEARN. We feel that we are really doing our job when everyone is learning.

You will find a variety of things going on at North Adams Elementary to bring about learning. Here are some examples:

In the area of reading and writing, students participate in Reading & Writing Workshops and Accelerated Reader. Some students attend Reading Recovery tutoring sessions . Just walking down the hallway will make you aware of how important reading is at our school--you can always find a student with their nose buried in a book!!

In addition to academic skills, at North Adams Elementary we believe in basic principles of good character, such as honesty, responsibility, caring, and respect. We encourage students to practice these character traits through our Words of the Week program.  Each grade level participates in a month long Community Service Project.

We also have established a "Code of Conduct" to remind students and staff of behavior expectations.

The Code of Conduct says:  "I will display good character by being respectful, responsible, honest, and caring.  I am here to learn, therefore I will respect myself, others and the environment, cooperate with all school people and do nothing that will keep the teacher from teaching and anyone, myself included, from learning."
